Hi there,
Welcome to your first Spot newsletter of 2025 🎉
We’re kicking off the year with a new case management feature! Plus a look at the maybe-not-so-vexed-depending-on-how-we-frame-things future of DEI (if we’re still allowed to use that phrase).
🆕 Custom case management forms are here!
You can now add custom forms to your Spot dashboard to streamline your case management process. Are you required to complete a closing memo when an incident report is closed? How about an investigation checklist or witness interview forms? Add them all!
Forms appear in the dashboard with the rest of your report communication and investigation options. Completed forms become part of your case documentation.

🤔 Is 2025 the year DEI defines itself (no matter what we call it)?
The conversation around DEI has become increasingly loaded—anything associated with the phrase seems to be under attack—but 2025 could be the year we see counterintuitive developments.
While 2024 was characterized by uncertainty and setbacks, with noteworthy organizations scaling back DEI efforts, others—like Apple, Amazon, and Costco—are doubling down. There’s uncertainty in the air, but some experts are forecasting renewed vigor for programs with proven outcomes. Rachel Marcuse, COO of ReadySet, reminds us,
The majority of people, the majority of Americans, the majority of employees: They want cultures where they feel good and they feel like they belong.
To Marcuse’s point, one tactic for our current era is to take the “all-inclusive” approach to defining diversity, in which we reframe practices already intended to make things more fair for everyone to emphasize all employees. In the words of Joelle Emerson, CEO of Paradigm,
To build great cultures for everyone, organizations need to understand for whom their culture is not great today and work to close those gaps. While this is a narrative shift, it will often result in organizations focusing their efforts in all of the exact same areas they’ve focused historically. Because underrepresented groups typically face the biggest barriers to fairness and inclusion, organizations that care about building a great culture for everyone will end up focusing their efforts on those groups.
🗓️ Planning Ahead
February is the shortest month of the year, but it brings opportunities to celebrate diversity and foster kindness in the workplace. It’s a great month to strengthen connections and honor your team.
Here are some dates to add to your calendar:
- Feb 1-29: Black History Month (U.S. and U.K.) – Celebrate and honor Black culture and contributions
- Feb 10: Lunar New Year – Welcome the Year of the Snake and invite team members who celebrate to share traditions
- Feb 17: Random Acts of Kindness Day – Spread positivity with peer recognition
